Thursday Wellington

Fingerprints2.JPG

As we entered the police museum there was photos all over the place. Our educator told us about the photos. She said these are photos of people who went to jail in the olden days, It was mainly because of gold mining in those day and people tried to steal food and gold. If they were in big prisons they have to put their hand up to show that they have nothing in their hand but if you were in small prisons that can have fancy photos.

Then we went to do some activities we learned that the print on the tip of your finger has names like whorl, loop, arch, double loop whorl and it gets more and more complicated. For this activity we pressed down our fingers all over a glass plate and then we used this metal piece brush showed our fingerprints. After that we put a really strong see through sticky over it and now our fingerprint was on it. Then we rolled all ten of our fingers in a ink pad put them on a piece of paper that was it for that activity then we went around the museum doing other activities. What I learned at the police museum was that even with tiny bit of your fingerprint they can find out the rest of the print.

Day Two Wellington

bowling3.JPG

A shiver went up my spine as I stood at front of my station. To my left really good bowlers played their game. We had to wear special shoes when we were bowling. The shoes that we wore was really slippery when we stood on the wood. The games was really fun and exciting. I learned that you have to concentrate, the ball has to hit the middle pin and the ball has to go really fast. The balls were different sizes and everyone faught for size six.

While we waited for our turn. We joked around and had fun. I won one game and I lost the other. When we finished our time I still wanted to play but we couldn't because we had to buy more games. This activity was worth spending time at.

Day One Wellington

Displaying Class sitting with educator.JPG
24/11/14

We got out of the bus after the 5 hour trip. When I got out of the bus, next thing I knew was I was just in front tall building named Te Papa. As we rushed in through the door in front of us on there was a big, yellow dinosaur footprint on the stairs. When everyone saw the footprint they stopped and waited for the teacher to come. As everyone looked at the entrance they saw a big dinosaur we all knew what it was it was a tyrannosaurs. The teacher took us upstairs to look at the display there. There were many touch-screen devices all around the place. There was many other things that was at Te Papa for example The Earthquake house and many more. I learned a lot on Monday about the tyrannosaurs.

Story With Michael

3D-beach-art-jamie-harkins-coverimage2.jpg

When we went to the beach, we had fun drawing in the sand. After we finished it looked real so we acted as it was real as well. I had four friends and they each did different things like water skiing, sailing, fishing and many more. The soft golden sand looked chocolate coins. The water glistened in the sun. The tides came in and went out. The worf looked like big kit kat blocks. The flag looked a arrow flying in the wind.

Polar Bear Free Writing

national-geographic-photo-contest-2014-photography-coverimage.jpg

I the lonely one just stand there waving hello to everyone that passes. But they seem to be too busy to notice me. All alone I just stand there all day and no one pays attention to me. The ice is  sharp as knives and I can feel the cold ice under my paw. Each day I grow and I get used to the environment. All you can see is long sheets of ice that covers the deep blue ocean. Tiny holes here and there just big enough for me to go through to have a dip. Then I started my journey as a polar bear to become strong, to find a partner and make a family of my own. So that one day there will be polar bears with a better family that mine.

Leadership Conference

At the leadership conference we listened to four speakers. What I learned at the leadership conference is that never give up and keep trying until you achieve your goal. The speaker that inspired me most was Paora Winitana. He said being a part of a family is important and that you get the most support from them in everything that is sensible. If you work together in a group you can get your work done faster but if you do it all by yourself it is going to take longer. This is not only useful with work but with almost everything you do.

Michael's Story

In class We've being doing buddy writing and this is a story made by Michael and hes seven yrs old and here is his story below.

sheffield-park.jpg

The playground is coloured light blue like the sky.  Its body was like a car driving down the road. The roof of the playground looks like a shed to me. The slide looks like a horseshoe as I go down it. The other slide is like a water slide. When I drink the water I am drinking nice, cold, healthy water.

Art Work

This is my art work that I did in class. One box was done in charcoal the next was Indian ink the next one was done in oil pastels and the last one was done in dye. I chose four castles from cartoons to draw.

Descriptive Writing

This term we are writing descriptive pieces. We are using Figurative language. Here is an example from an image I choose.Discriptive

Flowers splash the scene as the spring sun arrives. Dolphins jump out of the waters happily as the sun comes around the corner. The crystal clear water sparkles in the sun.  Bright sun turns yellow, brighter that lava. Dolphins wave hello as we pass by. Everyone who sees the sun know it was the start of a new beginning. Waters splash like the sound of drums.

T.A.C.S Cross-country

My tummy started grumbling as I stepped out onto the field seeing the tall hills I had to run up.

As we started to take a walk around the course. I noticed thing that  there were thing that was not at all that pleasing. Like sheep poo, cow poo, lamb tails, stinging nettles and thistles.
When we walked up the hill it seemed simple enough, but I did not know that running will be harder.

I nervously watched as the year 7's do their run. Each time they came around the corner they looked really tired and exhausted. As they finished, they fell to the ground tired from going up and down hills.
Finally it was our turn. I felt like I had millions in my tummy.

"clat" there what the start signal. Everyone took off. The first lap was easy as we repeated it, out thighs started to burn, it almost felt like it was on fire. But everyone managed to run the laps. As we finished, we walked up to our bags, grabbed our drink bottles and drank water until we were satisfied.

Everyone was excited that the race had finished. We had a good night rest.

Memoir Poetry

School was usual enough; it had
a classroom, a teacher, lots of chromebooks and lots of work.
Boys did what they always do: work, have lunch and morning tea, cut paper and glue paper, read and write lots, typing everything up just like everyone else in the classroom.
My friends and I always get in trouble for not getting our work finished, taking too long doing things like using the Ipad and chromebook and more.
Doing nothing important at all.

St Mary’s School Intermediate.

L.I: is to write a report about the intermediate school.

New school. New school. Which school shall I go to, I need to go into a intermediate school. What about St Mary’s, it looks like a good school.

Here are some good things that St Mary’s School offers. Religious Education,
technology, Uniform.

Religious Education  is one of the most important subjects at St Mary’s school. The reason for this is because St Mary’s school is Catholic school.
What we do in RE. Every day after prayer we get out a book called Religious Education. This book is all about Jesus and all his works. Only some schools teach and one of those schools is St Mary's School  We have three Gospel Values that the whole school learns about, we call them the R’s. Here are the three: Respect, Responsibility and Reconciliation. Of this learning a child can become closer to Jesus.

For technology St Mary’s school is the be, seniors get a chromebook each and they do most of their work in their chrome. Expect of having portfolio year 7 and 8 students have a blogger account, so anyone can see their child’s work whenever they want. As I said the children do they work in google drive and that means we need a gmail. The school made year 7 and 8’s their on gmail. That is not all each class have at 2 - 3 ipads in a class so that the children can take photos on the ipads and put it on their blog.

About the uniform, the school recently have changed it the. The reason of this is that. we look different from the other school kids who is in a lower class than the seniors. Mrs Crowley (the principal) said that we look different from the other kids. Boys new uniform is the same as St Johns, so if a kid that is from St Mary’s school that is going to St Johns, They won’t have to buy a new uniform. St Mary’s School have only changed the winter uniform for the seniors, they haven’t changed the summer uniform.

Do you think this is a good school for your child if you think it is enroll your child now, don’t waste any time thinking about it. Surely you would not find a better school for your child, better than St Mary’s. Don’t waste time!!!.
This is you one and only chance.

Dive-In

On the 25th and the 26th of June St Mary's held their whole school production at bay city outreach. The whole performance took up a couple of hours but it was worth it because you got to relive all of you favourite books including Oliver twist, Cinderella, where the wild things are, and much more my favourite was Oliver twist a sad tale of a boy that travelled from orphanage to work house and work house to work farm but in the end he finally finds a place to belong with a family of pickpockets in London. The play that the intermediate did was good night Mr Tom. I really enjoyed acting but next time I really would like to have a bigger acting part because I really enjoy a little challenge and I would like to my performance skills to the test.

Recount

L.I:
recount an exciting event so that our reader knows what happened and how we felt.

That day still stays in my head and it just seems like yesterday.
That day we went, it looked huge but as the days went past it space is getting lesser and lesser.

Two years ago we brought something new. Well it is not every day you get something like this!!!!
The place was full of space and someone was needed to use it all up. But it was a huge mistake.

When all the kids finished the space it seemed like the house was getting smaller and smaller. All the furniture is huge and there is furniture in every room. Junk. There were junk underneath the furniture and when I have to clean I have a lot of trouble. Stain. You can’t get the stain of the glass, you have to go all the way where the dettol is and drag it where you what, spray it where you want it but still it does not go so it is a real pain.

One good thing about our house.
  1. There is a swimming pool right outside our kitchen so in summer when the sun is so bright if we are aloud we can jump into the swimming pool.
there are more but i will stick with this for now. Our swimming is round and the water is up to my chest. It is deeper than the school swimming pool. But not as long.

This is stuck in my head and always will be.

Report By: Jerin Joshy

How I found report writing: I kind of found quite easy but at the same time I found it quite challenging because I sometimes run out of ideas and sometimes I have heaps of ideas.

N.S: My next step is to think about what I am writing, think if it makes sense and also to try and get my work finished in time.

Visual Arts

This is a 'Half headed child.' I named him that because he has a half head and he because he a child that goes to a school. You can see it in that in the image below. Pablo Picasso inspired students in room 3 to do a type of art work that he did. This is my art work.

My first day of school

First day of school

The first day the worst day of my.School was not so well,I did not know anyone,It was hard settling into school. School in India is different school here  because the U.K.G (kindy) is connect to the school so when I was 3 I started kindy and when I was 5 I started school. The teachers at India is really mean like if you forgot to get a sign on your homework you get a whack on your hand (I don’t like that). The best thing about school in India is that your bag is in the classroom and and if you need anything you don’t need to go all the way to the clock bay. We have assembly every Wednesday. The school I went to was a catholic school. I was happy that I came here because I hate the school in India. I gave them some lollies and then I left my school in India.

Stranded

The bus screeched to a  halt, I got of. I found myself in the middle of nowhere. It was dark, gloomy trees were all dried. There was no sign of a living. A sudden shiver started up from my toes and it went all the way up to my brain. I got more and more nervous as i took each steep. ‘Avooooo’ came a loud sound right behind me, i ran for my life and i could see the red shinning in the dark gloomy night. I got too exhausted and i fell asleep without even knowing. When I got up I found myself at the same place I was last night. But it wasn’t dark it was all bright and sunny. When she looked she found herself in the middle of a desert  and it was really hot  and  I was really thirsty. Suddenly in a distance  I saw a river, Iran to the water but I should have known that it  was just an allusion because when I got there there was nothing but sand and the worst thing is that I lost all of my energy just chasing that water and now I was more thirsty than I was before. I found a tree and I took some rest. Well I wish I didn’t because the moment I sat down the turned dark and I saw the red shinning eyes again. I was too exhausted to run so I walked I was surprised because when I ran it did and when I walked it walked as well. Then I heard someone calling me I didn’t know  where it was coming from. I felt cold water all over me. I, then woke up from my terrible sleep and I went to school and that didn’t happened to me again but I heard that some others have had it too. So I tell take care of yourself otherwise you will be next.

Saturn the ancient god

This is a painting that I did about Saturn the ancient.

When Saturn grew up he got strong and when he was old enough, he overthrew his father and took his place. Then he was the king of all gods. When he had kids the was scared that his sons will overthrow him so every time he had a son he killed and ate. But when the last son was born Saturn's wife hid him away and she gave him a pile of big rocks covered in a towel. The last son's name is Jupiter he grew up on a secret Island. Eventuality when he grew up he was big and strong as well and Jupiter overthrew his father and Jupiter became the king of all gods. He told the people how to grow seeds and grow plants.

The Ant The Grasshopper

A grasshopper was singing and dancing and sleeping. while a ant came by carrying a toil to it’s nest. The grasshopper said why don’t you join me and sing along with me. But the ant said that he was saving up for the winter and the ant told that the grasshopper  that you should save up for the winter as well. Then he said that why save up there is plenty of food in the present and the summer passed the cold winter came. The cold was too much for the grasshopper and he so hungry that he thought that he is going to die of hunger. Then the grasshopper knew...
It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.

Moral : It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.

T.A.C'S

I had a lot fun at T.A.C.S triathlon . I did the run. It was a lot of fun even though it was exhausting. The best part of the T.A.C.S was that there was a food drinks stall. There was 300 other kids there and I saw lot's of kids who used to go to this school. we had to walk down to windsor park.I didn't like the walk because it was a long walk. Anyway I walked and when I got there I was happy that the walk was finished. After a while  the race began. Finally my race started and finished it and  I came 11. I am happy with the placing that I got because it is better than last year placing. I had a lot of fun at T.A.C.S
triathlon
